I have confirmation from 4 alpha testers that there will be mounts and mules. Right now only mounts are usable in the alpha servers but mules should be implemented shortly. Another 2 weeks of testing and they will be streamed to us.
I know what a mount is but what is a mule? and how are these things going to be aquired?

In Dungeon Siege you could get a donkey that followed you around and acted as extra inventory space. When cornered it would kick the enemies with it's back legs, but it was not really a fighting machine. This of it as a low level pet with an inventory that you can access.
Note Gaile said no mounts, but didn't specifically deny mules. We'll just have to wait and see.
On our private test servers, we have been testing a new reward system that lets you unlock items, runes, and skills for your pvp only characters through kills and victories in PvP.
What does that mean? Only PvP characters can unlock items, runes and skills in PvP? So only PvP characters get rewards for victories in PvP?
LOL. Whats the point of PvE and PvE characters? Just get in a good guild pick your skills and elites you want after a run of victories grab bag style and boom top guilds ownage. Seems like a bandaid attempt to fix pvp vs pve issues. No matter what they do next couple of months are going to suck till they finally give in to complete UAS, UAWU, UAI and flesh out PvE.
Right now they just applying bandaides. Maybe the expansion will finally create enough of a breadth and seperation to warrant PvE and PvP in the same game. Right now they are just trying to keep the PvP crowd which they terribly dissed from leaving. Somebody at Anet is slaming their fist down and demanding unity when the fan base cries separation.
This future patch does creates separation but at a cost of further lowering the value of half their game. This is not separation by equal value but arbitrary separation by exclusion. Who understand their game design anyway? Its broken and their making up as we play it.
Is their really enough fan base for a full on tilt PvP game with a broken guild system? Ya I am ranting but crap half of us agree. More and more all I do is come to these forums and others and think and read and post what this game could be but is not. I should just quit I play most other games and visit forums to read how to keep playing not what I might be playing 1-2-3 months from now.
And obsidian armor? That suppost to be a joke? Its to frigging expensive for 99% of the gaming public nor might I add obtainable by most even the hardcore PvEers.

You're reading it wrong. Since when did you unlock anything for your RP character in PvE, hm? All you unlock is always just for your PvP only characters.

The point of PvE characters is to play the game and have fun.
This update will make it so that people who only want to play PvP aren't forced to play PvE for hours on end trying to unlock the things they want. They can instead spend their time playing PvP for hours on end trying to unlock the things they want.
PvE characters are for people who want to play PvE. That's their point, and that's what it always should have been.
You're reading it wrong. Since when did you unlock anything for your RP character in PvE, hm? All you unlock is always just for your PvP only characters.
What do you mean reading it wrong? Everying is unlocked for RP character in PvE it has a added benefit of being unlocked for PvP characters also. But playing PvP characters and unlocking as a reward for victories for only PvP characters means you dont have to do PvE anymore. Meaning their is no point to do PvE at all. With a good guild you can make quicker and better builds for PvP quicker than the average joe. They going to give skills for losing? Attempts? Defeats? LOL
Some people might use a fleshed out RP character for PvP or not. Regardless if they do use a RP character for PvP then anytime they win a victory they "unlock" nothing either for that RP character or their PvP characters it seems based on way I read it.
It forces people to want to use PvP only characters for PvP which is fine but what again was the point of PvE?
Now you might say its stupid to use a PvE character in PvP but why? You might say thats not intention of the game. Is it? Who frigging knows. Wait a few months and updates you might be playing a totaly different game. Nobody knows.
The point of PvE characters is to play the game and have fun.
Whats fun about PvPing vs "insta 20's" who mega victory and unlock skills, items for their PvP characters. They have nullified anyreason to use a PvE in PvP. Which is fine. But what is PvE character for? Its a single player game easily finished in a week or month. I dont care what PvPers do or PvEers for that matter in this game. I am just pointing out a wicked imbalance and flaw.
I like how PvPers always know what a PvEer wants. Dont worry you will get your UAS, UAWU, UAR button soon enough.
My point is PvE people are not having fun and this is just another reason for it and does nothing to alleviate it. Nothing against PvP I know you dont care about anything but PvP or you like both who cares. I wouldnt be addressing you if you have not addressed me personally.
But if the point is fun, then PvP should be a little closer but PvE is shafted again. GoGO obsidian armor, woot. NOT.
If you equate PvE to the single player experience of a normal game like Quake for example, and PvP to the multiplayer experience you might as well say that all single player games are worthless.
GW only costs the same as any other PC game, why should the 'single player' section have to stay interesting for ever?
I just finished playing Lego Star Wars and I'm not inclined to keep playing that for another hundred hours, but that doesn't make it a bad game.
Sure, if GW had a monthly fee then it would be a bit unfair for the single player story to ever run out, but with a fixed cost I think it's fair enough.
Remember also that there are a couple of new areas soon to be unveiled for PvE players, and there's the new chapters in the future too.
On the other hand, there's a lot of tasty material in this update, with more to come in future weeks. Can't wait until you guys see the way it plays with the systems that James described. I think you'll love it.
Gaile Is there any pointers as to when the new area of Sorrows Furnace will be released. I like many others in Guild Wars havent brought the game for the PVP play. I was playing the beta's and have completed everything in PVE
All Quests all missions and now im just waiting about trying to get into Fissure and Underworld and being in Europe isnt often. This is starting to drag for me and many others. Its such a fantastic game to play but once you reach lvl20 completed it got all the 75k armour runed it all up theres not alot else to do.
Just running round looking for elusive Gold drops which are now too few and far between to make it worth while.
The only thing keeping me going and logging in is the new free area due out and the new content update that rumour says first half of 06
Now If I knew when the free content was due out it will then save me feeling like im sitting at the letterbox awaiting that special letter on Wednesday's only for the Postman to come and go without delivering my special letter and then not knowing if it may be another week before that Postman comes again If you understand what im saying
Please give us PVE something to look forward to like the PVP again have for the next update
